DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Celsius was designed by Hobbs Jamieson Architecture and is characterised by dynamic qualities of space, natural light, air flow and solar access, to achieve an overall feel that is aesthetically appealing and highly comfortable, with a low energy consumption.
The 16 single-level apartments in the two buildings have been designed to accommodate a variety of lifestyles, with differing floor plans to suit a range of owner occupiers. The open living areas of each apartment are orientated to the north to take advantage of solar access and views, with large recessed balconies attached to the living areas to create a strong link between indoor and outdoor space. There are no common walls between most apartments, maximising the privacy of residents.
The private balcony spaces also provide significant shading, enabling them to be used year-round. Slab projections over the east and west facing facades, coupled with external shading screens, lessen the heat load on internal spaces, reducing the need for air conditioning. The incorporation of ‘green roofs’ on each building also improves the insulation properties of the individual apartments.
The principles of energy efficiency that underpin Celsius have led to a design that creates a lifestyle for residents that maximises both environmental sustainablility and personal comfort.
